Breakfast and After School Club

Breakfast and After School Club

Introduction

We offer a high quality before and after school weekday term-time day care, run in our well equipped separate school building. The club is exclusively for pupils of Cedars Primary School and Nursery.

Staffing

To ensure continuity of the school’s high quality of care and expectations, we employ play workers who are part of our school day staff team, including our Extended School Day Manager Sue Powell. The team are experienced teaching assistants and Lunchtime Supervisors who work and know the pupils throughout the school.

Our Staffing ratio is 1 to 8 for 3 year olds.

Cost and Hours

Breakfast Club sessions run from 7.30am to the start of the school day. Monday to Friday inclusive, during the school term. The charge is £4.00 per session to include a healthy breakfast and activities. Breakfast will be served between 7.45am and 8.15am. The cut off time for admission to the club is 8:20am.

After School Club sessions run from 3.00pm to 6.15pm daily, Monday to Friday inclusive, during the school term. We ensure that the activities and atmosphere address the fact that the after school club is our children’s leisure and relaxation time, and represents a complementary contrast to the school day. In addition to the provision of fresh drinking water throughout the session, a drink is provided at the end of school and a light snack meal. This is charged at £10.00 per session.

The Department for Education (DfE) has provided a framework of protective measures that we must put in place for children and staff. The measures facilitate a school environment that is the safest it can be to minimise the coronavirus (COVID-19) risks. For Breakfast and After School Club children are organised into small, consistent groups – Early years (Nursery and Reception) and Key Stage 1 (years 1 and 2) as one group and Key Stage 2 (years 3, 4, 5 and 6) as the second group. Early years and Key Stage 1 children will be based in ‘The Hut’ and Key Stage 2 children will be based in the Activity Room. Two members of staff will be with each group (a temporary additional member of staff for the Autumn term has been employed). An additional hour of cleaning of the Activity Room and year 1/2 toilets will also take place. After School Club will finish at 5:30pm (as opposed to 6:15pm) to allow for additional cleaning and the school to be locked by the Site Manager.  The charge for After School Club will remain at £10 to contribute to the additional costs.
