At Cedars Primary School, we are committed to nurturing the mental health and wellbeing of our students and staff. Our holistic approach integrates direct teaching, supportive transition programmes, engaging class activities, and whole-school initiatives to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
We utilise the Jigsaw scheme to deliver structured lessons that promote emotional literacy, resilience, and wellbeing. This comprehensive programme helps students develop the skills they need to understand and manage their emotions, fostering a positive sense of self.
Our transition programmes are designed to support students during key changes, ensuring they feel secure and confident as they move through different stages of their educational journey.
Through engaging activities like “Good to be Me,” we encourage students to celebrate their individuality and build self-esteem. These activities are integrated into our curriculum to promote a positive classroom culture where every student feels valued and respected.

We actively participate in initiatives such as World Mental Health Day, Anti-Bullying Week, and annual NSPCC Childline assemblies. These events raise awareness and foster a school-wide culture of understanding and support.
Our targeted workshops for Years 5 and 6 provide students with the tools to navigate the unique challenges of adolescence, promoting resilience and a proactive approach to mental health.

We offer small group and individual support through our dedicated learning mentor and a counsellor, providing personalised guidance to students who may need additional assistance.
In addition, we have two qualified Mental Health First Aiders for both children and adults on our staff. These trained individuals are equipped to provide immediate support and guidance, ensuring that mental health concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
By embedding mental health and wellbeing into the fabric of our school community, Cedars Primary School aims to create a nurturing environment where every individual feels supported, understood, and empowered to thrive.
