Cedars’ Nursery is an integral part of our school community. We provide flexible 15 and 30-hour sessions in both N1 and N2, supporting families and young learners from ages 3 to 4. The Nursery is led by our Nursery Manager and it takes up to 30 children. From the very first day, children joining the nursery quickly feel welcomed and included as members of our school. Our experienced and caring staff work closely with families to help children settle in happily and confidently. We keep parents regularly informed about their child’s progress and experiences, ensuring you feel involved in their early learning journey.
The Nursery and Reception teachers work closely together to provide a smooth and supportive transition through the Early Years. This partnership ensures that every child receives the care, guidance, and encouragement they need to thrive and make excellent progress.
Our Nursery classroom is light, bright, and carefully designed to support children’s learning and development. It is well equipped with a wide range of resources and activities that encourage exploration and hands on learning. Resources are easily accessible so that children can make their own choices and develop independence. Displays and creative areas are thoughtfully planned to reflect and build on children’s interests, helping to create an engaging and stimulating learning environment.
At Cedars’ Nursery, we place great importance on the processes of learning. We recognise that every child is unique and that children develop and learn at different times and at different rates. Early learning takes place throughout all areas of our nursery and is guided by the Characteristics of Effective Learning, as well as the Prime and Specific Areas of Learning and Development within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
We see parents as partners and keep you updated on your child’s progress, both informally day-to-day and formally at parents’ evenings and through written reports.
Join our nurturing Nursery community—where every child is encouraged, supported, and celebrated.

To apply for a nursery place for September or January, Parents/Carers fill in an application form and submit this to the school office. We will accept applications outside of these months if places are available.
Successful applicants will receive an offer of a place and details of the induction programme. We hold an induction evening where parents are invited to meet with the staff. This provides an opportunity for parents to find out about the philosophy and ethos of the school and to have a tour of our Nursery.
Families are offered a home visit, to fill in required paperwork and to meet the Nursery Manager. Each child is given a start date and an initial stay and play session with their parent. Children are invited to attend two stay and play sessions before they start at our Nursery.
Breakfast Club runs daily from 7:30am every morning at a cost of £5.00 per session.
After School Club runs daily from 3:00pm to 6:15pm at a cost of £12 per session.
In addition to the 15 funded hours of childcare provided by the government, some families will be entitled to 30 hours of funded childcare.
Tax-Free Childcare and 30 hours free childcare are two separate government schemes, to help parents with the cost of childcare. You can apply for both through one online application – the childcare service.
Parents can check their eligibility on the Parent Portal on the HMRC website.
