At Cedars Primary School and Nursery we want to develop ‘thinkers of the future’. We want our pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to enable them to be active participants in a digital world and in the future workplace. We want our pupils to develop as respectful, responsible and confident users of technology, aware of measures that can be taken to keep themselves and others safe online. We teach them to understand they need to act with moral and ethical integrity and within the laws.
We teach computing discretely and we follow a computing scheme of work within Purple Mash. This scheme exposes our pupils to a wide variety of digital tools, technological skills and innovations to enable them to become informed members of the digital community. Across key stages 1 and 2, pupils are taught content relevant to their age. Â Carefully planned and sequenced units help our pupils to deepen their understanding of computational concepts. Pupils can apply and extend their understanding and make links in their knowledge and capabilities. Our pupils are taught to be digitally literate and we give them the opportunity to apply and develop what they have learnt in other areas of the curriculum.
